Goosebumps in Outerspace

February 2, 2026

Let me tell you about a time, in orbit
in a far away a starry place,
where I met an alien with sparkly eyes,
and tentacles that stretched the skies!
He waved at me from out the door
of my ship, I’d never opened before.
He smiled so wide, I had to grin,
like an earthly man who sells his peaches in
a roadside truck near Highway Ten,
and tells you, “Try one!” now and then.
His eyes were swirls, a cosmic stew,
reminded me of flowers and dancing too—
he floated towards me
and when I blinked, he blinked right back,
our bodies glowing
for a moment swaying backs to back.
I said, “Hey friend, would you like to share
a taste of Earth and summer air?”
I put on my suit and typed code into my control
then let the gates open to the great big void.
I gave him apples, carrots, peas,
and corn that once grew in the earthly breeze.
He slurped and burped and laughed so loud
all awhile the Milky Way glinted
like a diamond cloud!
We drifted, giggling, tentacle-to-cheek,
the stars winked down, and we played hide‑and‑seek.
He taught me songs of stardust seas,
he tried a cup of dark earl grey tea
while I told him jokes of Earth’s gravity.
We swapped names with winks and waves,
then danced till meteors blazed the sky.
But when my oxygen beeped low,
back to my ship I had to go!
